On August 7, 1948, a remarkable legacy began in Houston, Texas. Beta Pi Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. was founded on the principles of professionalism, leadership, scholarship, and service and became one of the earliest chapters in tbe Southwestern Region.

A group of eight dedicated women with a strong desire to bring the vision of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. to more communities in the greater Houston Area. Alma L. Mackey, Ethel Butler Bright, Bertha Campbell, Albennie M. Fretty, Lenora Norris Brown, Geneva Graves, Janice Holmes, Zella Fuller and Ida Lee McCoy. With Albennie M. Fretty being Beta Pi's first President from August 1948 - September 1963. 

For more than seven decades, Beta Pi has empowered business and professional women while making a lasting impact throughout the Houston community through education, mentoring, scholarships, and civic engagement.

Our legacy is built on sisterhood. Our strength is rooted in service. Our future is powered by purpose.
